Cyndi Stevens was born in Vancouver BC and has been in Port Alberni most of her life. She is Nuu-chah-nulth from the Ahousaht First Nation and at 16 years old was adopted into the Hesquiat First Nation.
She worked for the Port Alberni Friendship Center as a youth volunteer in 1977. She was hired in September 1986 and has worked in various areas including management, administration, community health, legal advocacy and accounting.
She has worked as the Executive Director for the Port Alberni Friendship Center for over 23 years and is involved in: program planning, development and implementation; liaising with funding agencies and all levels of government; monitoring and supervising programs, financial management, event planning, fund raising, proposal writing and contract management. Cyndi has completed certificates in conflict resolution, negotiation & interviewing and is a representative on several boards on a community, provincial and national level.
