Wałyaqił Shelter and Supportive Housing Program

The Shelter and Supportive Housing Program at 3939 8th Avenue remains a cornerstone of our services, offering a safe, culturally welcoming environment for vulnerable community members. We provide daily meals, laundry, showers, a TV room, a supervised use site, and on-site counseling, alongside support for detox, treatment options, and harm reduction services.

Collaboration with community partners is key to our approach. Island Health operates an on-site clinic offering PWD application assistance, opioid therapy, and wound care, with outreach teams visiting daily to address health needs. The Canadian Mental Health Association provides weekly housing support, and the flexible support of Daphne Hollins from the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction who offers essential income assistance and resource coordination.

Additionally, we host weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and regular visits from peer support and outreach workers, ensuring holistic, wrap-around care for our clients. These combined efforts create a vibrant and supportive community where residents can thrive, build skills, access vital resources, and connect with others in meaningful ways
